Dr. Howard Boey is a board certified physician with the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery with 20 years of experience. He is a member of many American Medical Societies including: Fellow of American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Connecticut ENT society and American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery. Dr Boey graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University and attended Tufts University School of Medicine. His residency was at The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary , Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Boey is an active instructor. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at The Frank Netter Medical School in Connecticut as well as a Clinical instructor in the Yale Medical School Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery Residency Training Program. He is an active teacher within the Middlesex Hospital Family Practice training program. In 2016 Dr. Boey was appointed Section Chair of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at Midstate Hospital which is a part of The Hartford Healthcare System. He has received awards and recognition by his peers and patients for academic and clinical excellence. His most recent recognition was the “Vitals Patients’ Choice Award 2014.” He has appeared as Connecticut Magazine’s “Top Doctors” four times in the past 6 years. He is very active in lecturing on topics related to ENT surgery here and abroad. He is an active international surgeon. He sits as the Surgical Consultant on the Board of “FIBUSPAM” which is a non-profit organization that offers humanitarian services to the people of South America. Dr. Boey has his own surgical team which he assembles annually to travel to Ecuador, South America, to operate on the indigent children with cleft palate, facial deformities and other surgical problems pertaining to the Head and Neck. Within the USA, he practices ENT/ Head and Neck Surgery with an emphasis on cancers of the throat and neck including thyroid. He frequently operates with neuro and plastic surgeons on complicated skull base cases. Dr. Boey strongly believes in a multidisciplinary approach to complicated problems . In addition to practicing traditional ENT surgery, Dr Boey is also current in using the most innovative and advanced technologic forms of minimally invasive surgery. He is one of the few ENT surgeons in the state of Connecticut who is formally trained and certified with the Da Vinci Robot for treating both benign diseases and cancers of the throat. He uses endoscopic techniques to approach sinus disease. He was one of the first ENT surgeons to use In Office balloon sinus technology. His training at Harvard made him well versed in ear surgery. |
