Dr. Byrne was born in Poland and came to the United States in the 1970’s. She lived in New York City and is fully bilingual in Polish and English.
Dr. Byrne graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fordham University in 1979 and graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1983. After an internship at Washington University School of Medicine in General Surgery, Dr. Byrne Completed her Residency at the Washington University School of Medicine in Otolaryngology and received a Board Certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology in Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Byrne is one of the first women in Connecticut to engage in the private practice of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat) Head and Neck Surgery. She joined the Southern New England Ear, Nose and Throat & Facial Plastic Surgery Group in 1989 and is also Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Connecticut Ear, Nose and Throat Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Byrne is involved in both the medical treatment and surgical intervention of Ear, Nose and Throat diseases, and she has hospital privileges in at Griffin Hospital, Middlesex Hospital, Midstate Medical Center, and Yale New Haven Hospital. Besides the basics of tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and placement of ear drainage tubes, Dr. Byrne is well versed in many aspects of the field, including allergy and sinus disease, endoscopic sinus surgery and balloon sinuplasty, voice disorders and vocal cord laser surgery, sleep apnea surgery, thyroid surgery, head and neck tumors, parotid tumors, plastic surgery of skin lesions and skin cancer of the face and neck, and pediatric surgery. Over the years, Dr. Byrne has taught and mentored many residents from both Yale and Griffin hospitals. She takes pride in being fully devoted to her patients and being a skillful surgeon, paying a great deal of attention to minute details while operating. Dr. Byrne is married and has two sons. She enjoys cooking and exercise, and challenges herself by strenuous hiking. |
